Rotary Club of Sulmaniya’s 39th edition of Raft Race which took place at Al Bander Resort and Spa in
Sitra raised more than BD 25000towards charity. The theme this year was to fight cancer where all funds will be used for projects to help those afflicted with cancer. Rotary Club of Sulmaniya’s incoming president Yusuf Fakhro was the head of the Raft Raceorganizing committee this year.He says: “The turn out for this year was really good despite fears of bad weather. We really appreciate the
support of our teams and sponsors. We hope every year will be a great success as this one.” Rotary will use
the money raised for projects concerning fighting cancer. 21 teams participated this year and each Raft had 8 people and 2 stand by so total of 10. There are the men’s and mixed teams, men raced in the open sea and the mixed raced in the lagoon. Men’s race are teams that consist of men and mixed race are teams that contain at least 2 women. The race began at 9am and finished at 3pm and was followed by an Awards ceremony.
